The Rate Engine

Privacy

This is a reference site for public data. It does not need to know who you are, so it does not ask.

What we collect

No accounts, no tracking pixels, no advertising cookies, no cross-site identifiers. There is nothing to log in to and nothing to opt out of, because there is nothing collecting you in the first place.

The rate comparison tool on the credit-score page runs entirely in your browser. The figures you type are never transmitted anywhere — not to us, not to anyone — and are gone when you close the tab.

What our host sees

Our server and CDN record standard request logs — IP address, timestamp, page requested, user agent — as any web server must to serve a page and resist abuse. These are not linked to identities, not sold, not shared, and not used to build a profile of you.

Analytics

If we add analytics, it will be a privacy-preserving, cookieless product that stores no personal data and sets no identifier. We will say so here, dated, before it goes live rather than after.

Advertising

There is currently no advertising on this site. If that changes, EEA and UK readers will see a consent notice before any advertising cookie is set, as the law requires — and the notice will offer refusal as plainly as acceptance. We will never share your details with a lender, because we have no details to share.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and UK GDPR you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data we hold about you. In practice we hold none beyond transient server logs, so such a request will usually be answered with “there is nothing to send you” — which is the point.

External links

We link to source institutions — central banks, treasuries, statistical agencies. Their sites have their own policies, and we have no control over what they collect once you follow a link.

Changes

Material changes to this page are recorded on the changelog with a date, like everything else here.
