Changelog & corrections
Every change to how data is collected or presented, and every correction we have made. A site that never records a mistake is not a site that never made one.
Initial data core Launch
First publication. Series across the US, Canada, the UK and 21 European countries, with history back to 1990 for US Treasury yields and 2003 for European bank rates.
Canadian posted rates are not per-bank Correction
An early draft of our source notes stated the Bank of Canada publishes posted rates for each individual chartered bank. It does not — the series is an aggregate across the major banks. Corrected before any page using it was published.
Canadian rates charged: new lending only Correction
The Bank of Canada publishes rates both on newly advanced mortgages and across outstanding balances. These are different measures. We now ingest only new lending ("funds advanced"), which is the figure comparable to an advertised rate.
Methodology overstated our revision history Correction
Our methodology page said we could answer what a rate was believed to be on any past date. That is only true from July 2026 forward — revisions made before we began collecting are not in the archive. The claim has been narrowed to what the data actually supports.
European figures labelled with their reference month Change
ECB bank interest rate statistics publish roughly two months in arrears. European pages now state the reference month prominently rather than presenting the most recent available figure as current.
Eurostat inflation paused Change
Eurostat has published no HICP observation since December 2025. Rather than widen our staleness tolerance and let a seven-month-old figure feed real-rate calculations, the series is paused. This defers the real-rates comparison until the source resumes.
Reporting an error
If a figure here looks wrong, it may well be. Tell us and we will check it, fix it, and record the correction on this page.
